Night Registered Veterinary Nurse | Wirral | £33,000 to £40,000 Pro Rata Plus Bonus
My independent client on the Wirral is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for emergency and critical care to join its dedicated out of hours team within an RCVS accredited multidisciplinary referral hospital.
The clinic treats emergency patients while continuing the care of hospitalised first opinion and referral cases. You will work alongside experienced ECC Veterinary Surgeons, with referral clinician support and access to advanced equipment throughout the night.
The role
• Permanent position at 0.75 FTE
• Seven nights on followed by 14 nights off
• Shifts from 7:30pm until 8:30am
• Average of approximately 31 to 33 hours per week when annualised
• Salary of £33,000 to £40,000 pro rata, based on a 40 hour week, plus a bonus scheme
• Approximately five to 15 inpatients per night
• Emergency and critical care nursing
• First opinion and referral inpatient care
• Admission and triage of routine and emergency referrals
• Out of hours telephone calls and client communication
Your work will include monitoring critical inpatients, supporting anaesthesia, caring for patients with feeding tubes and catheters, assisting with transfusion medicine and running in house laboratory tests and diagnostics.
Facilities
The hospital has CT, endoscopy, ultrasound, an extensive laboratory suite, drip pumps, syringe drivers and blood transfusion products held on site. It also participates in the Blood Sharing Scheme.
Equipment is available to the out of hours team, and calls are handled directly rather than by an external call centre. An on site daytime administration team supports the clinic.
About you
You will be an RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse with an interest in ECC and inpatient care. Confidence with complex anaesthesia and critical patients would be particularly valuable.
You will work calmly under pressure, keep accurate clinical records and provide empathetic support to clients. The team is looking for someone who enjoys working closely with night colleagues, referral clinicians and the daytime teams.
